Future

We collected money for our friendship school Kamenica in Bosnia-Herzergovina.
By the money we bought school supplies for 50 pupils.
This is part of our thinking of social sustainability.

Mahnala visited a recycling art exhibition

5-6-graders visited an art exhibition in Tampere, Verkaranta April 2006. All art work was made of recycled materials, most of them for further use. There were pieces of jewelry, lamps, clothes and items for home and decoration. The purpose was to make us think and wonder the idea of reuse and recycling.

Planting a tree for future and world peace

We planted an oak tree behind the oldest wooden building at Sorrila school yard.
It happened on the UN's day of world peace and together with schools from over 100 coutries. The planting took part at the same time, at noon.
We had invited senior citizens, the veterans taking part in our school meal to our celebration. Also the pre-school children and all pupils and staff took part in it. A town gardener assisted us and the chairman of the Board of Education of Valkeakoski was our honour guest.

We sang together the tree plantin song, composed by Mika Vanhanen from Eno-online, who is the father of the whole tree planting idea.

"Hi and Hoe we plant trees, for environment and peace.
North and South, East and West.Trees will grow high and low.
Hi and Hoe we plant trees. Want to see a lot of green!
Grow with them and learn to live in peace and harmony!"

Our Comenius partners also planted trees to their school gardens.

Camp school 6B

Class 6b made a camp school trip to
Kustavi on the Baltic sea May 9th-12th 2006.
We made the last WWF/Naturewatch coast
activities there.The four days were just
great, like the weather.

Unicef-walk September 7th 2005

We took part in the UNICEF-walk for the second time. We
collected money against child labour in Benin in Africa.
