Plan 06-07

Tales in Rannankyla school

Our school took for one aim in this schoolyear reading and writeing. In every class was thought their own metods, how teacher can motivate pupils to read books.
In this year we read together finnish writers tales:
Sakari Topelius, Elina Karjalainen, Tuula Kallioniemi, Timo Parvela, Jukka Parkkinen, Tove Jansson, Mauri Kunnas.
There are some heroes in tales: Muumi –goblin, Santa Claus, Uppo-nalle…
We get to know tales listening and reading. We have sound books (CDs and tapes) to listening. We have used sound books in art, needlework, handwriteing, maths lessons. Pupils can calm down to working, when they listen to tales. They let each other work in peace. In those lessons we have silence in the classrooms. Teachers’ work make easier with sound books. Teacher can help some pupils in their work.
The most important way is in any case, when teacher reads. The situation is very close, pupils can empathy with teacher’s feelings. We discuss feelings after listening. Often they want to make theatre about the tale, what teacher has read. First and second class and in preprimary class they draw when they listen to tale or after listening.
One important thing is reading, how we can motivate pupils to read books. Our library helps us. One offical from library visits in every class to tell books. She give to pupils some tips. Making tips is our speciality in this year. Pupils write tips to internet and others read them, so they know what should be good to read. http://www.peda.net/verkkolehti/pielavesi/rannankyla/kirjavinkkaus
First class are makeing handicraft about their hero of the tale. In needlework they make a doll and in woodwork a bed for it. Pupil in 4th class are makeing own tales and a painting with woodframes.

We are making picture book and animation Lila’s and Mörri’s adventure.
Some finnish writer will visit in our school.
