Each student, after reading and discussing the story, made a booklet where there are illustrations and some sentences from the story. We use the booklets are very useful for the improvement of the students' writing skills.

a procedure for using tales in foreign language classes - it is a general procedure
I am sending as an attachment a popular Bulgarian folk tale. I have interpreted it in English for the purposes of my 5th year English classroom. We made it a drama using the similar methods to Kristina's. The children retold it with the help of my questions and then they made the script - written as I used that to improve their writing skills as well.
 

Plan

15th Sept.-31st Oct - Reading traditional stories with the students. Each class chooses a story.

1st Nov - 31st Decem - Reading, retelling and drawing : illustrating the chosen story, making muppets and other objects related to the story.

1st Jan - 28thFebr. Exhibiting the pictures and objects. Preparing the stories for drama or muppet show. Classes who do not want drama will make books with the pictures and text.

1st March - 30th Apr Rehearsal, exhibiting the books. Interpreting the stories in English, German and Russian (the three foreign languages studied at our school). Acting the stories and filming the performances.

1st May - 31st May - Presenting the performances to parents and other members of the community.
