Lukuvuonna 2007-2008 ENA5-kurssilla kirjoitetaan JOKO 2 Write on -tekstiä (200-250 sanaa) TAI 1 Extended Essay (500-700 sanaa). Kummassakin vaihtoehdossa omat mielipiteet ovat olennainen osa tekstiä. Extended Essay edellyttää myös tarkkaa aiheen rajaamista ja lähdekirjallisuuteen tutustumista sekä lähteiden hyödyntämistä myös itse tekstissä.
Kriittisen ja analyyttisen kirjoittamisen lisäksi harjoitellaan lukemista. Kokeeseen luetaan JOKO valikoima oppikirjan Read on -tekstejä (The Moon and Sixpence, Gladiator, An inspiration to us all, The shock of the new, Something to smile about)
