Kettula Comprehensive School celebrated its 40th anniversary in November 2007. Our school provides good basic education for children between the ages 7 to 12. There are about 200 pupils in classes 1-6.
Kettula School is situated north of Kuopio city centre in a nice area surrounded by a little forest and not far from Lake Kallavesi and Puijo recreation area. Nature provides all kinds of opportunities for studying and for physical activities.
Our school has another great advantage besides nature: there is a branch library in the same building with our school. Classes usually visit the library at least once a week during the schoolday and children's drawings and stories are very welcomed there.
Our school takes part in a project called "Liikuntapolku" which started last year in Kuopio. The idea of the project is to increase children's amount of daily exercise at school as well as at leisure. Parents were also informed of the project and encouraged to involve in it. At school the children were asked what kind of activities they would like to have during breaktimes and what kind of equipments would be needed for the schoolyard. On the basis of these answers a new plan for the schoolyard was made and it only waits for realisation next spring.
