"Four Seasons for Europe: how seasons influence our lives" (Euroopan neljä vuodenaikaa: kuinka vuodenajat vaikuttavat elämäämme) on kolmivuotinen projekti (2005-2008), jonka tavoitteena on tutkia, mitä vaikutuksia vuodenajoilla on eurooppalaisten ja erityisesti projektissa mukana olevien koululaisten elämän eri puoliin.
Vuodenaikojen tarkastelussa huomioimme eri näkökohdat: maantieteellinen, luonnontieteellinen, taloudellinen, taiteellinen sekä kulttuuri-, ja ympäristönäkökohta.
Projektissa hyödynnetään laajasti tietotekniikan sovelluksia. Itse tehdyiltä internetsivuilta voidaan seurata suoritettuja aktiviteetteja eri vuodenaikoina. Lisäksi oppilaat käyvät sähköpostikirjeenvaihtoa, mikä innostaa heidän vieraiden kielten opiskeluaan.
Projektin loputtua lapsilla tulee olemaan parempi käsitys Euroopasta ja eri maiden välisistä kulttuuri- ja muista eroista ja samankaltaisuudesta. Tämä osaltaan auttaa heitä ymmärtämään paremmin koko maailmaa.
Projektin osallistujamaat ovat Englanti, Ranska, Kreikka, Puola ja Suomi (Jäälin ja Hannuksen koulut Kiimingistä).
Oppilaiden lisäksi projektissa ovat mukana Hannuksen koulun opettajat Eija Mikkonen ja Pekka Partanen sekä englanninopettaja Elli Laitinen.
”Four seasons for Europe: how seasons influence our lives” is a three-year project (2005-2008) whose aim is to discover how different aspects of the lives of Europeans, and in particular the lives of the school children in our partnership, are influenced by seasons.
We will look at seasons in Europe from different perspectives: geographic, scientific, cultural, economic as well as artistic and environmental.
The project involves the use of new technologies like the internet, notably to create a project website, which will showcase the activities undertaken season after season, as well as a profile of each partner school. Furthermore, e-mail communication between school children will inspirit them to learn foreign languages.
At the end of the project, children will have an improved awareness of Europe and a better understanding of the differences and similarities between our countries and cultures. This in turn will allow them to open their minds to the world.
The participants come from five countries: United Kingdom, France, Greece, Poland and two schools from Finland, (Jääli and Hannus schools from Kiiminki)
The project is being carried out by all the pupils and their teachers Eija Mikkonen, Pekka Partanen and Elli Laitinen, the teacher of English.
