Our school is a primary school with about 500 pupils and 35 teachers. Our school is situated in Central Finland near the city of Jyväskylä. We have two pre-school groups, 18 main stream groups (ages 7-13) and 5 special education classes (ages 7-16). We also have a small suburban school for first and second graders in Haapaniemi.
Our school was designed by Art Michael. He started his pre-planning work in co-operation with teachers and pupils and paid great attention to our ideas and needs. We have light and space and different kinds of learning environments.
Environmental education is one of our focuses. There is a group of pupils and teachers, who plan activities for the whole school. Our aim is to practise this theme in our every day work.
