The next common topic is DREAMS AND FEARS OF THE FUTURE. It will be interesting to see if young people in different countries have similar hopes and fears concerning the future. We decided to concentrate on dreams and then later in the spring we deal with fears.
1. We decided to start with mind maps on dreams. These mind maps should be published in Pedanet by November 7th. After that pupils will comment on the mind maps by asking some questions and sharing opinions, for example. The commenting should be done by November 21st.
2. Pupils will choose a topic from the mind maps that he/she will work on. The idea is to write a text dealing with a dream of the future. The dream can be of a personal or a more global character. The texts should be published by the end of February.
3. The idea of fears of the future will be approached with mind maps. We decided that we would bring the mind maps to Sicily in May for discussion.
So, the topic can be approached from a very personal perspective or from a global point of view. Even though we decided to make mind maps and write essays on the topic 'dreams', the final products can also be movies,cartoons, pictures etc.
The preliminary dates for the final meeting in Sicily are 2.-7.5.2009.

We were all happy with the learning process of the pupils during this period. It was considered good that the pupils communicated more with each other when trying to get information about their own topics. We agreed that pupils would comment on the reports of the others on the discussion forum during the spring.
It would be a good idea if all the pupils introduced themselves on Pedanet, i.e. telling a little about who they are, what they like etc. In this way the pupils involved in the project would get to know each other better and maybe they would communicate with each other more while working on the project (both formally and informally).

THE NEXT MEETING will be held in Sweden 9.-14.10.2008. The final meeting of the project will be in Sicily in the beginning of May 2009. The exact dates for the final meeting will be decided in the meeting in Sweden.

A. NEXT MEETING
Next meeting will be held in Oulu from 31st of January to 5th of February 2008. Please book your tickets as soon as possible and please inform us when you know how many teachers and students will come. Please note that the 31st of January is for travelling.
B. WORKING PERIOD TILL 25TH OF JANUARY 2008
1. Correct mindmaps to the webmagazine on Pedanet before Friday 9th of November under a new section "Corrections of mindmaps"). For example, we in Finland, correct all the mistakes that can be found in mindmaps made by the others.
2. Students work as a pair or in small groups having chosen a fascinating topic from the mindmaps. Italy / Sweden and Finland / France work as a pair. Students can look for information from any source they can imagine: books, tourist
brochures, Internet and, of course, discussion forums on Pedanet etc. Discussion
forums have already been created: one for discussions between Italian and
Swedish students and one for Finnish and French students. However, Pedanet
is an open learning environment and whoever in the world can participate in the
discussions.
3. Articles have to be published on Pedanet before Friday 25th of January 2008 under a new section "Project works 2008".
4. Students who are involved in the project can introduce themselves on Pedanet´s webmagazine under a separate section (as we did last year). Photos would be nice.

Everything started in Limerick, Ireland at the end of July 2005. Vlasta, Karin, Giacomo, Carlo, Frank and Jari met each other during a two-week course organized by a Spanish team English matters. One of the main points during the course was to form preliminary Comenius groups. We did it and almost immediately after the course Vlasta invited us for a planning meeting which was held in Skofije, Slovenia in November 2005.

The preliminary meeting took place in Skofije, Slovenia. Vlasta invited Carlo, Giacomo, Frank, Karin and Jari to plan and start the project in November 2005. We spent a marvellous week in Skofije and we didn´t forget to work either. We decided the name for the project "Image of the other", made plans for the first application and all accepted to use a learning environment called Pedanet during the project.

MEETING IN ARAGONA, SICILY
The first project meeting was held in Aragona in October 2006 and was organized by ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO V.E. ORLANDO. Teachers and pupils from five European countries (Slovenia, Sweden, France, Finland and Italy) met to plan how to start working on the project. The French, Swedish and Slovenian teachers also had some students with them. The students stayed the week at Sicilian families. Sicilian teachers and their pupils presented us Sicilian customs and culture in many ways. During the five busy days we also got know many interesting bits and pieces about Sicily. Plans were also made for the first project year. We decided to present our own areas and tourist attractions in Pedanet. Results can be seen in the web magazines:

MEETING IN GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN
The second meeting of the year was held in Gothenburg and was organized by Vättleskolan. Teachers and a number of students from each country met each other. We spent a marvellous 5-day-period in Gothenburg with its spring time. We visited, for example, SKA´s ball bearing factory, the archipelago and the huge botanical garden (of course!). Exact plans were made for the next term.

MEETING IN CLEDER, FRANCE
The first meeting of the project year 2007-2008 was held in Cledér, France in October. The welcome was very warm and the programme well planned. The pupils worked on the mind maps together and tried to correct misconceptions. A thorough plan was made to get the work done on time, so that articles written by the pupils would be ready to be discussed in the meeting in Oulu.
Beside the work, we got to know Bretagne from many perspectives. Luckily, we had a very nice weather, so we were able to take long walks on the seaside as well as in small beautiful towns.
MEETING IN OULU, FINLAND
The meeting was held in Oulu from the 31st of January to the 5th of February. We all enjoyed a nice winter weather and had a chance to get new experiences with snow. Pupils organized a lot of activities by themselves and the teahers also had some programme of their own. We all tried together some winter activities with different equipment.
We were very happy to see that the discussion forum had been in an active use and the reports pupils had written were good. We decided that the pupils would make short comments on the reports the other pupils had written and in that way the actual work that had been done by the pupils would not be totally forgotten. These comments will be made on a new discussion forum. We also made some preliminary plans for the next and final project year.

MEETING IN GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN
The first meeting of this term was held in Gothenburg from the 3rd to the 8th of October. We were quite lucky with the weather conditions. The autumn storm on Sunday night was not so bad as expected.
Teachers and 14 students met each other having wonderful time. We had a nice 8-kilometer-long walk in the nearby forest of the school. Sausages grilled on a bonfire were great (sikahyvää makkaraa)! We visited also the huge science center Universeum and one of the biggest amusement parks in Europe called Liseberg. During the last day we had a special opportunity to visit Volvo´s factory.
MEETING IN ARAGONA, ITALY
This was the final meeting of the project and was held from the 2nd to the 7th of May 2009. It was great to visit green and warm Sicily. We were quite lucky with the weather; it was raining only on Tuesday. It was a pity that our French friends were not able to particiapte in this meeting due to an unexpected problem.
The Italian team organized a marvellous week again. We saw the two sides of the southern Sicily: the sea and the countryside (mountains, wineyards, farms etc).
