Jokela Comenius

May 22nd, 2005 was a very special day in our school. We celebrated Comenius Day (for the second time) and Spring Day in Europe („two in one!”).

It was for the first time that we organized Comenius Day in our school. The event was a part of Comenius Week, Nov. 8th – 14th, 2003. We invited the mayor of Wilamowice (that’s where our local authorities are located), the representatives of regional school authorities, the headmistress of the Hecznarowice kindergarten and the chief of Hecznarowice village.

In December teachers from Bulgaria, Norway and Poland visited Jokela school. We had a great time together! Here you can see some pictures of this visit.

The purpose of the Fair was to present the achievements of Comenius schools and encourage other schools to apply for Comenius projects.

All pupils in fifth, sixth and seventh grade have written texts about their favourite animals. Most of the articles also show pictures of the animals. We hope you will enjoy reading about them.

Ignacy Krasicki (1735-1801) was called as “The Prince of Poets” by his contemporaries. Krasicki was both courtier and clergyman (he became Bishop of Warmia). His Fables present a world where reason is valued over sentiment, and where the power of instinct cannot easily be overcome.

Hecznarowice is a small village. It is in the south of Poland. It is our hometown.

On June 12th, 2003 we went to Milowka to meet Mr Lukasz Golec, one of the leaders of Golec uOrkiestra. They are a very popular band in Poland.

Short introduction to the Norwegian project

Fifth grade have done some nature studies recently. The topic was life in fresh water. One day we went out to find water insects. The weather was really bad, as it can be on the western coast of Norway. But we enjoyed our day out. The pupils wrote about it all. Here are their texts and some pictures.

There are plenty of beautiful places in Poland which are worth seeing. We went for school trips and took some pictures to show you just a few of them.

These children are all the members of the Comenius Club in our school. The Club was founded on January 5th, 2004. Some of the pupils wrote short letters to introduce themselves.

In our project we focused on recycling. Fifth, sixth and seventh grade are proud to show their PowerPoint precentations of their work.

7th grade at Soma skole have made this page. During two weeks they have registered information about the weather: Air pressure, rain, temperature and wind. They have also made a presentation of the temperatures in Poland, Bulgaria, Finland and Norway. Have a look at it !
